Fall Gardening Series

Saturday, September 28 | Liberty Library

Got a green thumb (or wish you did)? Clear your calendar and get ready to learn! Delaware County Master Gardeners will be on hand to help with all your gardening questions.

10 am - noon: Ask a Master Gardener -- From soil PH to water needs, and everything in between!
10 am - 5 pm: Native Plant Swap -- Bring in your cuttings, seedlings, and splits, and take a few in return.
2 - 3 pm: All About Herbs with the Master Gardeners -- Everything you ever wanted to know about herbs! Registration required.

This workshop, presented by the Ohio State University Extension Family and Consumer Sciences, will focus on teaching the basics of home canning and preservation. Learn the science of preservation, and why certain procedures must be followed precisely to ensure a safe and high-quality product. Registration is required.

It's also a great time to visit the Friends online for information on how to become a member or volunteer.

Bubblemania

Tuesday, September 24 | 5:30 pm

Ostrander Library

Bubbles for all! Visit Ostrander Library anytime between 5:30 - 7 pm for activities for all ages, all related to bubbles! Adults can watch a live glass artist outside of the branch (weather permitting). Teens will learn how to make Boba (bubble) tea. Kids will learn more about the science of bubbles, blow a giant bubble, and more.

Orange Library

Join us, and our friends from Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea, for an introduction to the coffee world. Learn all about coffee. The history! The science! Specialty vs. craft! And of course, taste different coffees from Crimson Cup while you're here. Registration is required to ensure there's enough coffee for all attendees.

Our "My Favorite Authors" service -- formerly knows as "For Booklovers Only" -- got an upgrade! If you've never used it, here's how it works: you choose your favorite authors from our list, and whenever that author releases a new book, we'll automatically put it on hold for you! When it's ready for pickup, you'll receive a notification. To sign up, simply visit our My Favorite Authors page, and login with your DCDL barcode and pin number. You'll see a list of all available authors. To add an author to your list, click the box to the left of their name. If you'd like to receive large print versions of books, please click “Settings” at the top left of the Author List page and click “Enable Large Print.” Enjoy!

Lifelong Learning Institute | OWU

Wednesday, August 21 | 7 - 9 pm

Created especially for intellectually curious older adults, the Fall 2024 term is scheduled from October 7 – November 15 and offers an array of topics, including legacy films of the Hollywood blacklist; archaeology of the Bible; sci-fi films of the 1950s; Ohio Native Americans as astronomers; the 2024 election; public schools under pressure, and much more! Registration runs through September 30.

The Wall That Heals

Havener Park

Thursday, September 12 - Sunday, September 15 | Open 24 hours

The Wall That Heals is coming to Delaware County -- this will be its only stop in Ohio. The Wall That Heals is a 3/4 scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, and includes a Mobile Education Center. This event is hosted by the Delaware County Veterans Service Commission and will be staffed round-the-clock by area volunteers.
