Feelings

Hi, friends, it's Percy! Sometimes, when summer comes, schedules change. Maybe you had been going to preschool, and you miss the friends that you made there. Maybe you're home with your parent or a different grownup. Or, maybe you'll be going to some summer camps. It's okay to feel worried or excited or anxious when there are big changes happening around you. This month, we're going to learn about having big feelings and how we can manage them.

Percy's Tip for Grown-Ups: It takes time and practice to learn how to manage your emotions. Read this article from the American Psychological Association for an overview and some practical tips to help teach your kids self-regulation.

How to Manage Big Feelings

Percy's watching... How to Manage Big Feelings

Why? Because just like grown-ups, children experience emotions. Times of uncertainty, stress, or change can cause feelings to feel even bigger. Sometimes children need help from a grown up to learn how to notice, name, and manage their big feelings.
