A Night at the Races with Friends of the DCDL

Thursday, May 2 | 6 - 8:30 pm | Wedgewood Country Club

The Friends of the DCDL are hosting their first annual Gala on Thursday, May 2 at the Wedgwood Country Club in Powell.

Get ready for a wild "Night at the Races," cheer on your favorite horses, wear your finest Derby hat and attire, and enjoy good food, good fun and mint juleps!

This event will help support DCDL's Summer Reading Club, Young Writers Workshops, Author Visits, and Maker Studios. Tickets are $60 each for the public, but only $50 each for Friends members.

Month of Hope: A Cancer Awareness Event
Month of Hope Cancer Awareness

Begins Wednesday, May 1

Join us at Delaware Main Library for a month-long event honoring those who have fought and are still fighting cancer. Add a friend or loved one to our list of honor, pick up cancer-coping and prevention tips, or send a card. Names added to our honor display will give a representation of how many in the area have been affected by cancer, just in time to celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day on June 2.

A very common project at the Maker Studio is engraved drinkware. Whether glasses or coated stainless steel, customizing these objects with a design as simple as a name is a great way to take a regular item and make it one of a kind. Delaware County District Library has partnered with the Columbus Museum of Art, Franklin Park Conservatory, and the Cental Ohio Symphony to offer free or discounted passes to cardholders. A pass to the CMA provides free admission for up to eight people, free parking, and a discount at CMA’s store and café. Your pass to Franklin Park Conservatory offers free admission for up to two adults and six children, and a 10% discount on purchases at the Garden Cafe and Botanica Gift Shop. If you have a student in your life who wants to learn more about the performing arts, they can attend any Central Ohio Symphony performance free with their library card -- and their accompanying adult attends at 50% off! Senior Companion Volunteers Needed
The Senior Companion Program helps residents maintain, regain, or extend independent living. This program,  supported by SourcePoint, is seeking volunteers who can help other adults live independently by encouraging them to remain active, providing contact with the world outside of their homes, and building friendships. Volunteers must be at least 55 years old and have an individual annual income of no more than $30,120. Volunteers receive an hourly stipend, paid holidays, and more!
