This week's tip: Did you know you can build your child's vocabulary simply by talking about interesting words? For example, "Look at that bird! That bird is called a Bluejay. Why do you think it is called a Bluejay?" You can use this technique with anything you see. Give it a try!

Sing

Going on a Bear Hunt: Sing along as we search for a bear in the wilderness. This silly children's song teaches kids about animals, nature, and prepositions.

Backyard Life: Join Elinor for this fun game from PBS Kids! Choose bugs, worms, and ants to develop your own backyard habitat.

Buttons! Buttoning and unbuttoning require good fine motor skills -- in other words, it can be tricky for little fingers! An occupational therapist offers expert advice on teaching preschoolers how to button and unbutton items on her Kids Master Skills blog.

The Color ORANGE

Can you show me something that is orange? Explain that orange can be made by combining the colors red and yellow. What orange things can your child point out in your home or while you're out and about? You'll find lots of orange things in the produce department at your grocery store!

💡 Play time tip! Take an ornage and cut it in half. Hand it to your child, and ask them to describe it using all five of their senses (see, hear, smell, feel, and taste).
