October Focus: AARP Tax-Aide

Genealogy Resources

The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program, which provides free tax preparation for senior citizens, is looking for volunteer tax preparers for next year.

All Tax-Aide volunteers have an immediate and measurable impact on the lives of the people they serve. This year, Delaware County volunteers filed 343 returns, saving an estimated $85,000 in tax preparation fees and helping fellow seniors collect nearly $275,000 in tax refunds.

Volunteers come from all walks of life, including truck drivers, nurses, accountants, beauticians, and managers. Anyone who does their own taxes is an ideal candidate for the all-volunteer program. Volunteers receive IRS-approved training, work on AARP Foundation-provided computers, and are mentored throughout the tax season. Don't want to prepare tax returns? We still need volunteers to help manage appointments and check paperwork.
