August is back-to-school time
Hi friends, it's Percy! Have you seen the big yellow school busses driving through your town yet? Maybe you'll be riding a bus to school this year, or maybe you'll be starting pre-school. Either way, it's pretty exciting! You'll learn lots of new things and make new friends. A good way to start is with our "Get Ready for Kindergarten" checklist! Complete all the tasks, bring it back to the Library, and you can choose a free book to keep forever! Read on to learn more about going to school.
Percy's Tip for Grown-Ups: There are lots of ways you can help prepare your young child for school. Recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics include everything from setting a bedtime to backpack safety; check out their full list here!

Press Here is easy enough for a toddler, but also complex enough to challenge older siblings and adults -- this game delivers hours of entertainment for the whole family. Practice colors and patterns while having loads of fun!
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth to the time they start school. If your child is under the age of 5, they qualify! Sign up for free now.
Why? Because it's fun to countdown to big events! This easy craft gives kids a visual way to see when the first day of school (or preschool) will be. Get complete instructions from the Preschool Inspirations blog.
Doing new things takes practice! Sesame Street's Two-Headed Monster learns how to take a deep breath and try again rather than giving up or getting angry. These calming techniques will be great for school!
