Summer Reading Club

Hi friends, it's Percy! This month is June, and that means it's time for Summer Reading Club! If you haven't joined Summer Reading Club before, it's fun and easy, and you can win cool prizes! Just keep track of every 15 minutes you read -- whether you're reading on your own, or having your grown-up read to you -- on our Summer Reading chart. When you've read 6 hours, come to the Library to collect a cool flashlight, along with coupons and freebies from local businesses. When you've read 12 hours, you get to pick a brand new book to keep forever!

Percy's Tip for Grown-Ups: Reading to your young child isn't just fun, it's also great for brain development! When you read, your child connects your words to the pictures on the page and to things in their world.

Some familiar faces and some new ones meet up at summer camp... and they all feel nervous! The duck is afraid everyone will find out he can't swim, and the bear is scared of noises in the woods. Can the campers get over their nerves to have some fun and make new friends?

Fun for all ages! Horses, jousting games, and a Medieval marketplace are back at the annual event. Learn about Vikings, create your own medieval tale, and visit Sherwood Forest! There will be crafts and games for all ages, as well as music throughout the event.

Why? Because shadow puppets are fun, and if you've reached your 6 hour summer reading goal, you have a brand new flashlight to use! Sesame Place teaches you how to use your flashlight and hands to make shadows of different animals.
