COVID Restrictions Loosen at Delaware County District Library
Hours increase, study rooms open, and more
Because of the ongoing hope that we've seen with vaccination rates, decrease in cases, and recent announcements from leaders in public health, I am happy to bring to your attention some of the changes we've already implemented in your local Delaware County District Library, as well as some changes to come.

Hours

Beginning on Tuesday, June 1, our hours of operation for in-person, drive-thru and curbside services will increase to:
  • Monday* - Thursday: 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday - Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: Closed
    • *Ostrander Branch Library is closed on Mondays

On June 1, the Maker Studio at the Delaware Main Library will operate:
  • Monday: 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday - Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday - Sunday: Closed

We can't wait to see even more of you inside our buildings this summer.
  • Can I sit or have an extended visit inside the building now? Yes, there is currently no limit to how long any patron may stay inside our building. There is also an increased number of chairs, tables, and benches returning to our locations.
  • Is the children's area open? Yes, all children's areas are open now. However, there are still no toys or electronics available for play. All books are open to browse and seating is available.
  • What about the Local History Room? Yes, you can now visit the Local History Room or schedule an appointment to meet with the Delaware County Genealogical Society.

Masks

Following the orders of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, beginning June 2 masks are no longer required to be worn while inside a Delaware County District Library location.

  • What if I am not vaccinated or partially vaccinated? The CDC recommends you continue to wear a mask until you receive your second dose or your vaccine reaches its full level of effectiveness.
  • What if I have a young child? CDC guidance still states that masks are recommended for non-vaccinated youth and those ages 2-12.
  • What if I am more comfortable wearing a mask? You may continue to wear a mask if you prefer to do so.

Public Computers & Printing

We've added more public computers, laptops and express computers in all buildings.

Now that we're accepting coins and cash, on June 1 printing will return to its previous fee structure of $0.05 per black and white page and $0.15 per color page. Visit our wireless printing page to learn how you can continue to send your documents to print from your email or upload a file.

  • How long can I work at a public computer? Public computers can be used in two-hour increments. If there are no other patrons waiting for a computer, that time can be refreshed as long as you need it.

Study Rooms

Study rooms at the Delaware Main Library and Orange Branch Library will be open for public use beginning June 1. Library staff can take advanced registrations now via phone or in-person request. On June 1, patrons will have the ability to make their own reservations online or by using the Delaware County District Library app.

Materials

One thing remains the same - our amazing plethora of books, DVDs, magazines and more!

  • Can I pick up my own materials and check them out? Yes! The holds pick-up areas are open and self-check computers are available for anyone to use.
  • Are my materials still being held in quarantine before being checked in? No. Beginning, June 1 we will no longer quarantine materials prior to check-in. It will take about a week to check in all materials, but no late fees will be added.
  • How long will I have to pick up my requests? Beginning June 1, you will have 1 week or 7 days to pick up your requests from the hold shelf.

Safety Protocols

Our public spaces are cleaned regularly, hand sanitizer is provided at multiple locations within DCDL buildings, safety barriers remain up, and social distancing will continue to be encouraged. As we've learned much over the past 14 months, many of the safety precautions and cleaning regulations we've implemented will stay as regular practice in our buildings.

See you at the library!
